1. Okhla Bird Sanctuary

Okhla Bird Sanctuary is Located near the Yamuna River in Noida, on the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh state border. The area of the sanctuary is 3.5 square kilometers. This is a very peaceful and beautiful place in a crowded city. Okhla Bird Sanctuary has over 302 species of Migratory and Native Birds. If you are a Bird lover, I recommend visiting the Okhla Bird Sanctuary in Winter Season, In this time the number of birds crossed the number 1 lakh. At the entrance of the sanctuary, you will find a lake with the surface of some tied boats.

The Sanctuary has a 3.5 km straight track that you can use for your morning walk and become more closely with the flora of the sanctuary. The ticket Price of this sanctuary is only Rs. 30 without the charge of a professional camera. They also have a cafeteria at the entrance and arrange e-buggy trips at Rs 20 per person.

2. Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary

Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary also known as Sultanpur National Park is located on the Gurgaon-Farooq Nagar road, in Delhi. This is a very beautiful place for bird watching and Photography. Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary has more than 250 species of birds. In the winter season, most of the migratory birds are comes from Siberian, and European.

This family-friendly place, visit with your kids so they can see some bird species that they don’t usually see. There are 4 watch towers in the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary. The most commonly found migratory birds in the sanctuary are the Siberian crane,  spot-billed pelican, greater flamingo, northern shoveler, rosy pelican, gadwall, wood sandpiper, etc. For Indians, the Ticket Price is Rs.5 and For Foreigners, The ticket price is Rs.40. 3. Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary

Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary is located in South Delhi. This Beautiful Nature place is the starting point for bird spotting enthusiasts in Delhi. The Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) manages this community-based urban wildlife sanctuary for the Delhi Department of Forests and Environment.

The main attraction of the sanctuary is “Neeli Jheel” a lake located in the center of the sanctuary where you can see 200 species of birds. It has also a  Butterfly Park, in which there are more than 60 species of Butterfly. Overall, it is a Must visit place within Delhi to relax and get some fresh air from the populated city.

4. Najafgarh Jheel Bird Sanctuary

Najafgarh Jheel Bird Sanctuary or Najafgarh Drain Bird Sanctuary is located across the popular Najafgarh Lake, which is situated in the Dhansa village in southwest Delhi. Najafgarh Jheel Bird Sanctuary is a paradise for bird watchers which is formed for the expansion of Najafgarh drain and the wetland expansion. The Sanctuary has a large number of flamingos and many more birds migratory and native birds such as tailor’s birds,  black kites, cattle egrets, golden eagles, red-wattled lapwings, etc. By the way, it is not a protected area. Yet, it is quite fascinating to see birds in this area.

5. Surajpur Bird Sanctuary

Surajpur Bird Sanctuary and Biodiversity Park is a protected area, located in Surajpur village of Greater Noida and one of the main attractions of Delhi. The area of the sanctuary is 761 acres which are formed by the Yamuna River. There is an artificial dam in the sanctuary. Surajpur Bird Sanctuary is home to more than 180 species of birds which includes Lesser Whistling Duck, Comb Duck Spot-Billed Duck, and many more. To explore completely the sanctuary, it can take around 2 to 3 hours.
